One person injured in Grand Park area shooting

One person was rushed from the 5000 block of Cleveland Road to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting in the Grand Park area on Thursday around 1 p.m. 

A man in his late-20s was rushed from the 5000 block of Cleveland Road to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department. The man suffered two gunshot wounds to the abdomen and went through immediate surgery.

JSO's initial investigation reveals the man was seen on video surveillance walking behind an apartment building with another man. Police say a few moments later, the victim was seen coming back from behind the building, holding his stomach suffering from the gunshot wounds. 

The sheriff's office says a person of interest has been detained, but no suspect description is given at this time. This is an ongoing investigation.
