Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrest man in connection to 2020 Atlantic Beach murder

Hudson Rady, 23, has been charged with murder.

ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. — A man is in custody after police said killed a 43-year-old man in an Atlantic Beach home in 2020.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Hudson Rady, 23, has been charged with second degree murder with a weapon after a more than three-year investigation. he is also charged with tampering with evidence and armed burglary.

JSO said detectives identified a potential person of interest, Rady, who was later arrested.  

The Atlantic Beach Police Department responded to the 700 block of Redfin Drive in reference to a home invasion at 5:15 a.m., Oct. 12, 2020.

Police found the victim, Israel Gonzales, inside the home with what appeared to be stab wounds, according to the sheriff's office. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The report said the victim's wife said she saw Rady "going out the back door of the residence when she woke up and exited the room where she had been sleeping" and DNA swabs on various parts of the residence contained DNA belonging to Rady. 

The report said Gonzales was killed by four shots from a pistol. A witness told police Rady said he killed Gonzales and threw the pistol in the ocean.

In April 2023, a witness inside the home told police that Rady had attempted to stage a burglary. Surveillance showed Rady's grandmother's car parked nearby a witness saw him near the home's carport, the report said. Detectives recovered black clothing in the home matching a witness's description of what Rady was wearing inside the home.

Rady was booked into Duval County Jail Jan. 6, court records show. His arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 29 though is subject to change.
