Inclement weather cancels some after-school activities in Duval, Clay counties

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A slew of afternoon activities have been suspended due to inclement weather Wednesday and a subsequent Tornado Watch.

Duval County

Duval County Public Schools made the following changes for Wednesday's after school activities:

  • Practices: All athletic practices are cancelled. 
  • Games and competitions:  Players and families should check with their coach to determine if the event will be played or cancelled.
  • Drivers education classes are cancelled.
  • All outdoor community education programs are cancelled. 

However, Afterschool programs will continue as normal with all activities moved inside.

A district spokesperson said the organization is continuing to monitor the weather and will provide an update if any further changes are necessary. 

Clay County

Clay County District Schools announced that all after-school activities, including clubs, athletics, other extracurricular activities and the Boys and Girls Club are canceled until 5 p.m., due to inclement weather. 

The cancellations do not include extended day for the YMCA at Clay County elementary schools. 

Any activity after 5 p.m. can take place as scheduled, according to school officials. 

This list will be updated as more school districts announce cancellations.
