Standoff ends with peaceful surrender after neighborhood in Clay County was evacuated

Residents were evacuated and taken to St. John’s River State College located at 283 College Drive. They will be able to return home as soon as deputies clear.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Clay County deputies are on scene after reports of a person firing a weapon in the Sandy Hollow Loop area on Friday morning. The person has since surrendered and was safely taken into custody, according to officials. 

Deputies set up a perimeter around a home after someone barricaded themselves in. That person has since been taken into custody by law enforcement. Swat was also on scene. 

Residents were evacuated and taken to St. John’s River State College located at 283 College Drive. They will be able to return home as soon as deputies clear the area.
