Jacksonville Game Center broken into 2nd time this month, more than $3K of Magic cards stolen

This break-in comes roughly three weeks after someone smashed through the same wall and stole around $5,000 worth of Magic cards from the store.

For the second time this month, a thief punched another gaping hole through the Jacksonville Game Center in Englewood Friday morning and stole thousands of dollars worth of Magic: The Gathering cards.

The shop, located at 5800 Beach Blvd., posted photos of the hole on Facebook, saying "we walked into a familiar situation."

The shop told First Coast News that around 1 a.m., the thief or thieves shut off the power to the game center's neighboring Chinese restaurant. They also removed the lights from in front of both the restaurant and the game center before they broke the window of the Chinese restaurant to get inside.

"And broke through the wall again in a different spot," the shop said.

The game center told First Coast News that 16 sealed boxes of Magic, totaling around $3,200, were stolen.

"We will not let this stop us at all," the shop's Facebook post said. "This is your store just as much as it is mine."

The game center says it will be open from 2 p.m. on Friday until its Magic event ends.
