A 27-year-old swimmer drowned Saturday at Jacksonville Beach, according to the Jacksonville Beach Police Department.
Officers were called to the area of Sixth Avenue South just after 6 p.m. to help a distressed swimmer in the ocean, police said.
The swimmer was pulled from the water in cardiac arrest and rushed to a hospital after CPR was performed.
The swimmer later died at the hospital, police said.
The identity of the swimmer was not disclosed.
