Man in 'life-threatening' condition after shooting outside Southside home as suspect in custody

The shooting occurred at 5600 Barnhill Drive around 4 p.m., police say.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said a man was shot on the Southside Thursday afternoon, though a suspect is in custody, police said.

Officers responded to the shooting around 4 p.m. at 5600 Barnhill Drive in Englewood.

A man was shot in the head and abdomen and is in life-threatening condition. The victim was in a vehicle when the suspects "discharged multiple rounds" Thursday and fled the area.

The suspect was described as man in his late 20s. Witnesses said the suspects just walked up and started shooting, according to JSO said.
