Shooting on Jacksonville's Eastside leaves man dead after he was shot multiple times

Jacksonville police say around the time of the shooting, a dark-colored, 4-door vehicle drove through the 800 block of A. Philip Randolph Boulevard at high speed.

A man died after he was shot multiple times in Jacksonville's Eastside Friday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO's Sergeant Highfill says at approximately 9:03 a.m., officers responded to the 800 block of A. Philip Randolph Boulevard in reference to a call about a person shot. When officers arrived, Highfill says "life-saving measures were taken," but first responders with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, pronounced the man in his early 30s, dead at the scene.

Police say around the time of the shooting, a dark-colored, four-door vehicle drove through the area at a high rate of speed.

"The circumstances leading to the incident are unknown at this time," Highfill said.

Homicide and crime scene detectives responded to the scene following the shooting to conduct an ongoing investigation, JSO says.
