Police: Two dead, one injured in violent Westside shooting

Police say they are continuing to investigate but have not entirely ruled out the possibility of a murder-suicide.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla — Two people are dead and one injured following a violent shooting incident on the Westside Friday, according to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO says they initially responded around 8:50 a.m. to the 500 block of Watershed Drive E.  The SWAT unit was also called to assist as a precautionary measure. When they arrived, police say they located an adult man and woman dead at the scene.

An additional adult man was also located suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police say. He was taken to a hospital for treatment where police say his condition is currently unknown.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department told First Coast News that someone was taken from the scene in life-threatening condition.

Police say they are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led up to the incident but have not entirely ruled out the possibility of a murder-suicide. However, JSO was not able to provide exact information regarding the relationship between the three individuals.

There were no additional people in the home when the shooting occurred and police say there are no outstanding suspects at this time.

JSO says the SWAT team was never utilized as this situation never escalated to become a hostage or barricade situation.
