Jacksonville man accused of shooting man in broad daylight, shooting 19-year-old in the head

Kenneth James Jr. is accused of shooting a man who was riding in his car leaving a rap studio in September. Now, police are charging him in another murder.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The man accused of shooting a 19-year-old in September is now accused in another murder that happened months before, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Kenneth James Jr. now faces additional murder charges for a fatal shooting on Golfair Boulevard on July 15.

According to witnesses, James waited in his car until he spotted the victim, identified only as a man between 20 and 30 years old. Just after noon, in broad daylight, he shot the victim multiple times until he fell to the ground.

Witnesses said James got out of the car and shot the victim again. Police found the victim dead at the scene.

September shooting

In September, James was charged with second-degree murder after a 19-year-old was found shot in the head on Melrose Avenue.

Police said James, his brother and the victim were at a recording studio located at 2820 Gibson Road. James and the victim left together and drove to the victim's home on Melrose Avenue, 12 minutes away.

This is where police say video surveillance picked up the sound of a gunshot. The video then shows James get out of the car, walk around to the passenger door and drag the victim from the passenger seat onto the road.

"The victim appeared to be deceased and was covered in blood," according to James's arrest report.

The studio they were at is called Shock Boy Productions. A pregnant woman was shot leaving the same studio on Sept. 29.

The studio owner said at the time that he did not know the pregnant woman, and says his business is not involved. He said she was a guest of someone who rented out a studio to record, and his business has nothing to do with the violence.
