Nassau County woman scores $1 million off $50 scratch-off ticket

The winning ticket was bought from Starke Shell, located at 115 South Temple Avenue in Starke.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A Nassau County woman just got $1 million richer after scoring big on a 500X The Cash scratch-off game, the Florida Lottery announced on Wednesday.

Misty Regulacion, 53, of Callahan, claimed the prize in Tallahassee at the Lottery Headquarters.

The winning ticket was bought from Starke Shell, located at 115 South Temple Avenue in Starke. 

A $2,000 bonus commission will go to the retailer for selling the winning ticket.

Regulacion opted to receive her winnings as a one-time payment of $820,000.

The 500X The Cash features a top prize of $25 million which is the largest pot offered on a scratch-off game in Florida. The overall odds of winning are 1 in 4.50. It costs $50 for a ticket. 

Scratch-off games made up roughly 72% of ticket sales during the fiscal year 2022-2023, and have awarded more than $59.5 billion in prizes, creating 1,947 millionaires. 

Florida's Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) has received more than $18.39 billion from scratch-off games.
