Jacksonville Game Center closes game room after thief punches hole through wall, steals valuable Magic cards

The thief broke into the game center by punching a large hole from inside the neighboring Chinese restaurant.

The Jacksonville Game Center located in Englewood has closed down its game room because of a break-in Monday morning that left a gaping hole in its wall.

The store, located at 5800 Beach Blvd. Ste. 109, posted photos of the hole on Facebook, saying that the thief got inside the shop through the Chinese restaurant located next door.

"The individual managed to get into the store from an adjacent location punching a rather large hole to get into our store," the post said.

The shop told First Coast News that its surveillance video showed one person breaking in. They said the thief stole high-priced playing cards from the trading card game, Magic: The Gathering, as well as some booster boxes.

The thief also reportedly spray painted the lights outside of the business with black spray paint.

First Coast News has learned that the plaza where the game center is located had at least eight or nine incidents within the last year.

Though the game room is closed until further notice, the shop announced that the retail side will remain open during regular business hours.

The business has been open since 2013.
