Jacksonville Mayor Curry: City curfew, evacuation orders, alcohol bans lifted Wednesday night

City government offices will also reopen Thursday.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — As the last bits of Hurricane Dorian move past the First Coast, Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry announced the city curfew will be lifted at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Mandatory evacuations and the ban on alcohol sales will also be lifted at that time, and all bridges to beaches are reopened.

Curry urged residents to remain vigilant as the storm continues to move away from the First Coast. Some blustery winds and rain are still possible Wednesday night.

As people return to their homes, it's important to remember that intersections with malfunctioning traffic lights should be treated as four-way stops.

If you're using a generator, keep it outside to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.

Stay away from standing water, and if you see a downed power line, avoid it and report it to the city at 904-630-CITY.
