All bridges back open on First Coast following Hurricane Dorian

During Hurricane Dorian, bridges were closed after they reached sustained speeds of 40 mph.

All bridges along the First Coast are open Thursday following potential impacts by Hurricane Dorian. 

A few bridges closed momentarily, as effects from Hurricane Dorian were felt. Bridges were closed once local law enforcement gaged sustained wind speeds at 40 mph. A few were also closed due to flooding.

All bridges and roadways have since reopened.

  • Dames Point Bridge -- OPEN
  • Fuller Warren Bridge -- OPEN
  • Hart Bridge -- OPEN
  • Intracoastal Bridge (Atlantic Boulevard) -- OPEN
  • Intracoastal Bridge (Beach Boulevard) -- OPEN
  • Intracoastal Bridge (Butler Boulevard) -- OPEN
  • Main Street Bridge -- OPEN
  • Mathews Bridge -- OPEN
  • Wonderwood Bridge -- OPEN

GLYNN COUNTY

  • Jekyll Island Causeway -- OPEN
  • Sidney Lanier Bridge -- OPEN
  • St. Simons Causeway -- OPEN

NASSAU COUNTY

  • Intracoastal Bridge (Fernandina Beach) -- OPEN 
  • Nassau Sound Bridge -- OPEN

ST. JOHNS COUNTY

  • Bridge of Lions -- OPEN
  • Shands Bridge -- OPEN
  • Vilano Beach Bridge -- OPEN
  • Palm Valley Bridge -- OPEN
  • Crescent Beach Bridge -- OPEN

"Access to St. Johns County’s barrier islands remains restricted as the bridges to the islands remain under a condition of limited access. As such, eastbound access is limited to legitimate business or personal intent.

Law enforcement officers are posted at each bridge to identify the reason for requesting access to these evacuation zones and allowing it when appropriate. Proof of residency or purpose may be required."
