How hot and cold can it get on Easter Sunday in Jacksonville?

A look back at the weather on Easter Sunday in Jacksonville Florida.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Easter is a spring holiday, and being such there is historical range in what kind of weather we see as the seasons change, couple that with the fact Easter falls anytime between March 25th and April 22nd and you realize there is really no “typical” easter weather.

Jason Hess a Meteorologist at the National Weather Service Jacksonville went through the data back to 1872, that’s 151 Easter Sundays and here is what he found out.

The average high temperature on Easter is 78 with a low of 56 in Jacksonville.  It’s rained 33 out of the 151 easters so basically you can have a 22% chance of rain on the holiday.

The hottest Easter on record is 91 in 1981 and a low of 31 in 2007. That also was the only easter ever in Jacksonville with a freeze and a low of less than 40 degrees.  So those on vacation from northern states, there’s about a 1 and 150 chance we could see freezing conditions. According the historical data though, there has never been any frozen precipitation observed on Easter.

Also In 2020 not right on Easter Sunday but in the days following it we have several tornados reported here on the First Coast. This combined with storms associated with it led to all sorts of travel headaches in our area.
