Head-on crash, vehicle fire at Heckscher Drive and Milton Drive sends 2 to hospital with serious injuries

JFRD tweeted that the crash was a head-on collision. One of the vehicles caught on fire, according to JFRD.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two people are in the hospital with serious injuries after a crash on the Northside Tuesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department.

Crews were called to the scene of Heckscher Drive at Milton Drive around 10:30 a.m., JFRD tweeted, saying that the crash was a head-on collision. One of the vehicles caught on fire, according to JFRD.

Crews were able to put the fire out, JFRD said in its tweets, but two patients had to be transported to the hospital. Both of them sustained serious injuries, JFRD said.

First Coast News is working to learn what caused the crash and how many vehicles were involved.
