FHP: 24-year-old motorcyclist killed after crash on Kingsley Avenue in Orange Park

The front of a motorcycle crashed with the right side of an SUV as the vehicle was making a left turn onto Plainfield Avenue, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A 24-year-old Fleming Island man is dead after a motorcycle crash on Kingsley Avenue in Orange Park Sunday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

An FHP crash report states that around 2:20 p.m., a motorcycle was traveling west on Kingsley Avenue in the right lane as an SUV was heading eastbound on Kingsley Avenue attempting a left turn on Plainfield Avenue.

The front of the motorcycle crashed with the right side of the SUV, according to FHP. The motorcycle stopped in the center of the intersection and the SUV traveled onto the northwest shoulder before stopping.

FHP said the crash resulted in heavy damage to both vehicles.

All three people involved in the crash, a 75-year-old Middleburg woman a 6-year-old Middleburg boy and a 24-year-old Fleming Island man, were taken to the hospital.

The 24-year-old riding the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the hospital. The woman and child suffered minor injuries.

The crash blocked the intersection of Kingsley Avenue and Plainfield Avenue as emergency crews responded to the area.
