2 dead after wrong-way crash on A1A in St. Johns County

A car traveling on A1A near Guana River Road crossed over the center line Thursday morning. It was struck by two other vehicles killing both occupants.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Two people are dead following a crash Thursday morning on A1A in St. Johns County. The sedan was traveling southbound north of Guana River Road around 6:25 a.m. when it crossed over the center line, "for unknown reason," a news release from Florida Highway Patrol states.

A pick-up truck traveling in the opposite direction collided with the left, front end of the sedan causing the sedan to spin out and get hit on the right side by a third vehicle, an SUV.

Both occupants of the sedan, two 29-year-old males from Jacksonville, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pick-up truck, a 57-year-old St. Augustine man, received minor injuries.

The driver of the SUV, a 28-year-old St. Augustine woman, sustained serious injuries.

Everyone involved was wearing seatbelts, the news release states.
