EWU showcases upcoming football talent during the spring game

EWU head coach Toriano Morgan has helped the Tigers improve their record every season since he took over in 2021.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Edward Waters football team gave the community a sneak peek at what this year's team could look like during their spring game, showcasing the new and returning talent.

Head coach Toriano Morgan will be at the helm for his fourth season, and since taking over in 2021, he has helped the Tigers improve their record each season.

Last season, EWU had a 6-4 record, the program's first winning record since 2004.

"We are expecting to continue to improve. We get the first opportunity now being full-fledged NCAA to compete for a championship, so that's the goal," said Morgan. "Anytime we take the field and they are keeping score, we want to make sure we got more points than the other team. So this is the work that leads to that, so it's a process that we can't circumvent, and today is just a stepping stone in that process."

EWU has finished its transitional period from NAIA to NCAA DII and can finally compete for a SIAC and national championship.
