But which home improvement store will hammer out the best deal? Turns out: Both.
One great thing about both Lowe's and Home Depot is that they offer price match guarantees. That means you can get the same deal on the same product no matter which store you're in.
Here's what you do:
- Go to the store that's closer, or the one you like best, and find the product you're looking for
- Search the other store's website for the same product
- If the one in your hand is cheaper, buy it
- If not, ask the service rep to match the price
Just like that, you're getting the exact same deal without having to drive to the other store.
There are some caveats though. Price match guarantees often don't apply to on-sale or discounted items, or items sold through a third-party or discount site.
Another thing to consider when it comes to savings: If you're active or retired military, you could qualify for additional discounts at both Home Depot and Lowe's.
