Vice President Kamala Harris to address reproductive rights in Jacksonville Wednesday

This will be the Vice President’s 12th trip to Florida since taking office.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Vice President Kamala Harris is taking another trip to the First Coast next week to address reproductive rights.

Harris will travel to Jacksonville for a campaign event focused on reproductive rights, according to organizers, on the day the state is set to implement a 6-week abortion ban.

However, Floridians will vote on an amendment in November that would block the state from prohibiting abortion until the point of viability: when the fetus is viable outside the womb. If voters pass the amendment with at least 60% of the vote, the right to an abortion will be enshrined in the Florida constitution.

According to a news release, Harris will discuss the impacts of state abortion bans. It will be the Vice President’s 12th trip to Florida since taking office.

Her event follows President Joe Biden's talk in Tampa on Tuesday also focusing on reproductive rights.

She kicked off her “Fight For Reproductive Freedoms” tour in January.

She last visited the state in March, when she discussed gun violence prevention in Parkland. She visited Jacksonville in July 2023 to publicly oppose the Florida Legislature's new standards on Black history.

The time and place of Harris gathering in Jacksonville next week has not been released.
