Man accused of shooting wife Monday night tells police he is a retired JSO officer

After making contact with the suspect, Andrews told police, "The gun is in my right pocket and I am a retired JSO Officer."

An alleged retired JSO officer has been charged with attempted second-degree murder after allegedly shooting his wife multiple times in northwest Jacksonville September 10.

A woman sustained life-threatening injuries the night of September 10 after she was allegedly shot multiple times by a man believed to be her husband,, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Deputies arrived at the scene at a residence in the 12300 block of Weeping Branch Circle. The 911 call came from inside the residence, according to JSO.

Upon arrival, police made contact with Irish D. Andrews, believed to be the victim's husband, who told police, "The gun is in my right pocket and I am a retired JSO Officer."

Records say Andrews was ordered to the ground, a semi-automatic handgun was removed from his pocket and he was handcuffed.

The woman was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, says JSO.

Two of the couple's children were inside the home at the time of the shooting.
