Will it be a "soaker" for the Jaguars vs. Ravens on Sunday night? Here's what we know now.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Open up any weather app on your smartphone this week and you'll see a high chance of rain and wind this weekend in Jacksonville. But there's more to the story than what meets the eye.

Guidance has continued to come in line with improving conditions on the First Coast by Sunday evening following a potent storm across the First Coast Saturday evening through Sunday morning. This is all thanks to a storm supported by a negatively tilted trough in the upper levels combined with tropical moisture clear from the southern Gulf of Mexico.

What does that mean? In short widespread rainfall, high winds, and the chance for severe weather this weekend. Check our weather forecast for more details on that.

Bottom line, what about the Jaguars game?  The storm will be pulling north by Sunday afternoon allowing dry air to spill in from the northwest. This will create windy conditions in time for the Jaguars game but the rainfall will have tapered off by that point. Gust during game time could be over 30mph with cloudy skies and falling temperatures means it will be a bit brisk in the stadium, but at least the heavy rainfall and threat of lightning will have passed at that point.

Be sure to download the FCN App for more details leading up to game time.
