Car crashes through Gotham City Limit comic book store on Southside, injuring employee

The store's owner told First Coast News a woman driving the vehicle hit the gas instead of the brakes, prompting the crash.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An employee at a local comic book store was taken to the hospital after a car crashed through the front of the Southside business Tuesday night, according to the store's owner.

The incident occurred at the Gotham City Limit comic book store located at 4195 Southside Boulevard.

The owner, Ben Kingsbury, told First Coast News that a woman in the parking lot accelerated instead of hitting the brakes, and crashed through the front of the store. He added one of his employees was hurt in the crash.

"Please pray for Santana," Gotham City Limit wrote on social media. "It's beyond a nightmare."

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department confirmed one person was taken to the hospital from the location.

First Coast News crews observed crews boarding up the building Tuesday, hours after the crash.

Right now, it is unclear when the store will reopen. The owner said he plans to take everything one day at a time.

"We will relay more info when we know more," said Gotham City Limit.
