Thousands reported power outages after severe weather moved across First Coast

More than 5,700 people were without power in the Mandarin and Loretto area and over 2,800 people were without power near Race Track Road at some point Tuesday.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Update: 7:30 a.m. Jan. 10

JEA is reporting less than 100 outages across the First Coast Wednesday after severe weather impacted several Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida counties Tuesday.

Tens of thousands of people were without power Tuesday after severe weather and strong winds rolled through the First Coast.

JEA reported a total of 14,287 customers were affected by outages from 2 p.m. Tuesday through midnight Wednesday. More than 2,800 customers were affected by power outages along Race Track Road, including the area of Julington Creek Plantation.

More than 300 people reported power outages in the Loretto area of Jacksonville. Roughly 280 people in Riverside also experienced power outages Tuesday. And more than 100 people in Orange Park were without power.

Right now, crews are assessing damage in all affected areas.
