JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — This week’s Teacher of the Week comes to us from KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy.
She’s an amazing third grade math and science teacher going above and beyond to make learning fun for her students!
Mrs. Kendra Brewster says she was surprised about her nomination.
“I get to see my teacher, Brewster, and she helps me learn,” said Taheary Blue, student.
Taheary and her classmates keep Brewster on her toes.
She says no two days are alike.
“Not knowing what’s going to happen day-to-day is something new, and every day is a new opportunity,” said Brewster. "Even though you may not have got something right the day before, or you may feel like the students didn’t get it the day before, the next day when you come in… that light bulb may have went off, and it’s like oh they did get it even if they didn’t get it on their exit tickets."
Brewster says she’s thankful for the nomination.
“Thank you to whoever nominated me because I’m super grateful and my students are super grateful as well because I did tell them beforehand that we are going to have a special guest and they were really excited so thank you,” said Mrs. Brewster.
