St. Johns County woman searching for answers after third cat is shot by pellet gun

In the last two years, Dana Pimental has had three of her cats shot by a pellet gun in her front yard. She wants to know who the criminal is.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A woman in St. John's County is left shocked and saddened after having to put her cat down, after it was shot by a pellet gun in her front yard.

Dana Pimental said this is her third cat that's been shot in two years, a reoccurrence that no pet owner wants to experience.

She is left searching for answers after her cat, Pixie was shot by a pellet gun last month in her front yard on Lemonwood and Satsuma.

"So I grabbed her, called the vet they said take her directly to the emergency vet on Hartley because I told them I thought she got hit by her car," said Pimental.

After some tests from the Vet, she found out Pixie wasn't hit by a car.

"They said yep it was a pellet gun that got her right in her back and caused her to be paralyzed from the waist down," said Pimental, "you know I had to have her out to sleep. It was just very, very difficult. We’re attached to our cats."

Sadly, for this cat owner, this is not her first time going through this. Her cat, Zoey was also shot by a pellet gun last year around October 2023 and suffered the same tragic fate.

"We had my other long haired cat about a year ago she was on the roof. She liked to be on top of the roof she was shot off the roof of our house and she was completely dead," she said.

Her cat Fluffernutter survived after being shot by a pellet gun around Christmas Eve in 2022.

Dana Pimental reported these incidents to St. John's County Sheriff's Office, but with three of her cats all being shot right in her yard, she's now left wondering who is doing this and why.

"We don’t know who’s doing it. We don’t know why they’re doing it. she said, "no more pets for us I told my husband until we can figure out what’s going on and keep them indoors we’re not getting another pet.

The Pimental's are offering a $600 reward to anyone, if they know any information on this incident. You can email Dana Pimental at Danap119@yahoo.com.
