Officer shot in the face in 2017 receives JSO Purple Heart, back serving community

JACKSONVILLE, Fla — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office handed out a Purple Heart to one of their officers two years after he survived a bullet to the face. 

JSO awarded K-9 Officer Jeremy Mason the badge Thursday after he was shot while apprehending a kidnapping and carjacking suspect in July 2017.

Twelve surgeries later, Mason is back serving the community.
