JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — JEA has finalized agreements to build three renewable energy solar facilities in Jacksonville, according to a release from the utility Thursday.

JEA Spokesperson Karen McAllister says it's part of the utility's commitment to a "cleaner, more sustainable future."

The new solar sites could provide power for more than 37,000 households.

The utility is also looking into pairing the solar energy with other clean technologies, like battery storage.

This is all meant to help JEA work towards it goal of 35% clean energy by 2030.

The facilities will be run by Florida Renewable Partners. They are expected to produce energy for customers by the end of 2026.
