Police investigating after woman in her 60s found dead in Mandarin home

Police say the woman's injuries do not appear to be self-inflicted and that this is being considered a homicide investigation.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is looking for answers after a woman in her 60s was found dead inside a home in the Mandarin area.

Police say they received a call Monday morning in reference to a person shot sometime around 6:45 a.m. in the 10000 Big Feather Trail.

Once at the scene, police say they located the body of an unresponsive woman who was later pronounced dead by JFRD. 

The woman was taken to be evaluated by the Medical Examiner's Office, so that an autopsy can be performed, JSO says. No cause of has been determined.

Police say the concerned family member was making a stop to check on the woman after not hearing from her in a few days when they discovered her unresponsive and with injuries.
