Woman who lost sister in double shooting arrested for grand theft, forgery

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Lisa Rucker, the surviving sister who police say was shot in the head by her sister’s boyfriend Chad Absher, was arrested Friday night for charges of grand theft, forgery and two counts of petit theft.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Lisa Rucker, who police say was shot in the head by her sister’s boyfriend Chad Absher, was arrested Friday night on charges of grand theft, forgery and two counts of petit theft.

Rucker’s attorney John Phillips tells First Coast News they “plan to fight” the charges so they don’t impact the murder case involving Absher if it goes to trial and she is needed as a witness to testify.

Rucker’s father Roger tells First Coast News they went into the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on Friday evening to discuss the double shooting that killed her sister Ashlee, but when Lisa's driver’s license was scanned the older charges of theft appeared and a warrant for her arrest was still active.

She was let out of jail later Friday night on an expectation that she will appear in court to face the charges.

The forgery charge dates back to October 29th, 2017. The grand theft and petit theft charges date back to August of 2017.

Rucker was just released from the hospital last month after the double shooting that killed her sister. She is still recovering from her wounds.

First Coast News crime analyst Mark Baughman says the older charges could have a negative impact on the murder case because the forgery charge could impact her credibility on the stand.
