A man and woman were arrested in St. Johns County after they allegedly tied up and stole from a man who was trying to use Tinder to meet the woman at his house.

According to the St. Johns Co. Sheriff's Office, a Ponte Vedra man used Tinder, the online dating app, to meet Lexus Tripplett, 20, at his residence for a date. After she came over, he used the restroom and when he came back out, another man, Michael Wheeler, 26, was outside the door holding a gun at him.

The two suspects, from Jacksonville, allegedly then tied the victim up and began stealing from his house before leaving.

After alerting police, the SJSO's Major Crimes Unit Detectives used digital and forensic evidence to ID the suspects and issue arrest warrants.

Police tracked the suspects' vehicle to a park in the Fruit Cove area and as they approached, the suspects fled.

After a vehicle pursuit, police pinned the suspect car against trees to immobilize it and arrest Wheeler and Tripplett.

A gun was recovered from vehicle and seized as evidence and the two were placed in jail on bonds totaling $1,000,000.
