Suspect drives up next to Jacksonville woman's car, shoots her

The victim and the suspect knew each other, police say.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was surrounding a scene where a green truck was riddled with bullet holes Wednesday night. At a briefing at 12:20 a.m. Thursday, they explained a woman had been shot in the leg while driving the truck.

A suspect drove next to her and opened fire, police said.

The shooting happened in the 11700 block of Alden Road.

The woman's wounds were not life threatening, according to JSO.

The victim and suspect knew each other, and the suspect has been apprehended.

Police were on the scene near the intersection of Alden Road and Alden Trace Boulevard West around 8 p.m.

They were investigating a green pickup truck, which had at least two bullet holes in the passenger side door.

Evidence markers were seen near what appeared to be a bullet casing.

A man who was taking his daughter to a softball game nearby told First Coast News he thinks he heard two gunshots.

Alden Road was blocked off, but is now reopened.
