Police: Man injured as shots ring out on the Hart Bridge during rush hour

Police say around 5:30 p.m., they received reports of gunfire on the bridge coming from a vehicle headed northbound.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was injured during a shooting on the Hart Bridge during rush hour Friday afternoon, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police say around 5:30 p.m., they received reports of gunfire on the bridge coming from a vehicle headed northbound.

While enroute to the incident, JSO was advised one of the vehicles involved had driven to Baptist Downtown with a passenger that had been shot.

Police say the driver of the vehicle told police that he was not sure why his vehicle was targeted.

The passenger who was shot was taken to another hospital and is currently in stable condition, police say.

JSO says they are working to determine a motive and that it's possible a silver sedan may have been involved.

If you have any information, contact JSO by phone at 904-630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at 866-845-tips.
