Person shot multiple times in Brooklyn neighborhood in what JSO believes could be targeted attack

Police say the incident occurred in the 100 block of Chelsea Street.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A person was shot multiple times Thursday night in the Brooklyn neighborhood in what could possibly be a targeted attack, says the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police say they were called to an incident in the 100 block of Chelsea Street sometime before 11 p.m.

When police arrived they say they rendered first aid to a victim who they later discovered was shot multiple times in the torso.

JFRD rushed the victim to a nearby hospital where they are in non-life-threatening condition. 

Police say the victim was approached while walking along Chelsea Street when he was approached by a suspect armed with a gun.

After the shooting, JSO believes that the suspect fled on foot. Police say the suspect is still at large and is described as a male in his 20s.
