GIBSONTON, Fla. — Hillsborough County deputies arrested two men Monday night accused of driving around the state using counterfeit credit cards obtained through gas pump skimming devices.
Victor Mendoza Fonseca, 27, and Yasniel Rodriguez Hernandez, 42, were arrested Monday night after investigators say they showed up to a Gibsonton Circle K gas station and used a stolen credit card to fraudulently buy diesel fuel that was stored in containers inside a pickup truck and box truck. Fonseca was found with eight counterfeit or cloned credit cards, and Hernandez was found with 112 counterfeit or cloned credit cards, deputies say.

They were both arrested and charged with trafficking in counterfeit credit cards and fraudulently obtaining diesel fuel or unlawful conveyance of diesel fuel. Detectives are working to identify the victims whose credit card information was stolen.
Additional fraud and identity theft charges are pending, deputies say.
Hillsborough County investigators say they were first tipped off to the case when they were given intelligence from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Polk County Sheriff's Office regarding people traveling around Florida using fraudulent cards to buy large amounts of diesel fuel.
