Malik Baker died in September after he was rushed from Tip Top 24 Hour Learning Academy. DCF has since changed their initial report about the cause of his death.

A DCF initial report summary stated the child was pronounced dead after "swallow[ing] a small toy." However, DCF's updated summary stated "he became unresponsive at his daycare" and "although initial reports suggest he may have ... swallowed a small toy, nothing was found in the child's airway."

DCF responded to the release of the autopsy Monday, stating:

"The department’s child death investigation is currently open. At this time, additional details related to child death investigation remain confidential per section 39.202, Florida Statutes. The CIRRT report will be posted to the department’s website once it has been completed."
