ORANGE PARK, Fla. — A longtime brewery and pizza parlor in Orange Park is closing its doors after 14 years of service.
Brewer's Pizza, also known as Pinglehead Brewing Company, announced the closure in a post on its Facebook page early Monday.
"With an extremely heavy heart, we are announcing we will be shutting the doors of Brewers Pizza/Pinglehead Brewing Company," the post says. "We will be closed Monday and Tuesday, November 13 and 14, and will be open for beer only Wednesday through Sunday from 3pm-9pm. During these hours, feel free to come in and socialize with the friends you have made over the last almost 14 years and stock up on your favorite Pinglehead offerings in crowlers or your own glass growler if you have one or ten!"
The brewpub's general manager, Taylor Rayburn, interviewed with our news partners, the Florida Times-Union, citing financial issues as the reason for the closure. Rayburn said the business was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic and never recovered.
The brewpub's Facebook post invites customers to take a piece of their business home as a way to remember them.
"Have you had your eye on something but haven’t been able to convince ownership to let you walk away with it?" the post says. "Well, everything is negotiable now. Tap handles, art, if you want it, we may be able to make a deal!"
Brewer's Pizza also thanked its regulars for their patronage over the years.
"We owe a massive thanks to everyone who have allowed us to be a part of their neighborhood and their lives since we opened the doors," the Facebook post says. "A massive thanks also goes to anyone who stepped into the building and contributed their time to the betterment of this company, whether as a favor or in exchange for compensation. We will forever remember all the great times we had here, and will be looking forward to what happens next in our lives. Cheers!"
In August, Tabula Rasa Brewing permanently closed in Jacksonville's Rail Yard District. Earlier this year, World of Beer closed its Jacksonville location on the Southside.
