Keitha Nelson joined the First Coast News team as an Anchor/Reporter in August of 2013.

She traded in the harsh winters of South Bend, Indiana for Jacksonville's humid summers.

In South Bend Keitha served as the Morning Anchor and helped to launch ABC57s very first morning newscast.

This New York native is no stranger to heat and humidity she has also worked at news stations in Baton Rouge, LA and Biloxi, MS.

She moved to the Gulf Coast exactly one week before hurricane Katrina hit and says she was baptized by fire.

Keitha has been recognized for her work in journalism and community involvement, winning an Award of Excellence in Broadcast Journalism from Women in Media, an Edward R. Murrow and Peabody for hurricane coverage as a part of the WLOX news team and an Emmy with ABC57 news.

She says the most rewarding stories to report are the ones that help to create positive change our communities.

Keitha is also a proud member of the national public service sorority Delta Sigma Theta, Inc.

"When the opportunity presented itself for me to head back down south I jumped at the chance," said Keitha. "I enjoy the weather, people and overall atmosphere here. I consider myself fortunate to be a member of the Gannett family."
