Gov. Ron DeSantis announces UF now No. 7 among top public schools

Fla. Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to make an announcement at 9 a.m. Monday at the University of Florida.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — On Monday, Fla. Gov. Ron DeSantis joined leaders at The University of Florida to announce that the school has once again strengthened its ranking among the nation’s top-10 public universities.

Desantis announced that the school has risen to claim the No. 7 spot according to the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges report.

Last year, UF rose to spot No. 8 and before that was tied for the No. 9 spot with the University of California, Irvine, and the University of California, San Diego.

In Tallahassee, Florida State University also got a boost in ranking.

The school shot up eight spots to No. 18 among national public universities and exceeded its goal of joining the Top 25.

“It’s an incredible accomplishment for Florida State University,” said President John Thrasher. “The credit goes to so many people — our faculty, our staff, and certainly, our great students. I couldn’t be prouder.”
