World War II Vet inducted into the U.S. Army Parachute Rigger Hall of Fame
Colonal Thomas Cross moved about 200 soldiers to their defensive positions while under constant fire with that broken leg, serving in a command position despite receiving orders to seek medical attention. He was eventually evacuated for medical treatment in Italy and rejoined his unit after he recovered.
