JACKSONVILLE, Fla — Two men died in two separate crashes on the First Coast Friday, the Florida Highway said.

The first crash involved a motorcyclist and semi-truck in Bradford County.

According to FHP, around 9:55 a.m., a 64-year-old Maryland man was riding his motorcycle on US-301 while a semi-truck driver, a 38-year-old Middleburg man, was traveling south on the road.

For unknown reasons, the motorcyclist traveled to the outside lane and while doing so, collided with the semi-truck's left tire and driver side steps, FHP said. He died on the scene.

The second crash happened around 4:08 p.m. in Columbia County.

Troopers say a 78-year-old woman from Welborn, Florida, was driving a Honda SUV westbound on Interstate 10 in the left lane near mile marker 312. For unknown reasons, she veered off the south shoulder and into the center median where she struck several small trees, FHP said.

The woman and her passenger, an 85-year-old man from White Springs, Florida, were taken to a nearby hospital. The man later died.
