22-year-old in critical condition after crash on State Road 312 in St. Johns County

The Florida Highway Patrol said the woman was a passenger inside a sedan that turned left in front of two oncoming vehicles, resulting in a crash.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 22-year-old woman is in critical condition following a multi-vehicle crash Sunday night on State Road 312 in St. Johns County.

The crash happened at approximately 5:55 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of SR-312 and Sgt. Tutten Drive and involved three vehicles, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The woman critically injured was a passenger in a sedan traveling west in the left turn lane on SR-312, according to FHP.

At the same time, two vehicles, a van driven by a 15-year-old boy, and a sports vehicle driven by a 27-year-old man, approached the intersection of Sgt. Tutten Drive traveling east.

FHP said the sedan turned left in front of the two oncoming vehicles and was struck.

The sports vehicle hit the sedan's passenger side within the intersection, causing it to rotate counter-clockwise and strike the van in the process.

All the vehicles involved came to a final stop inside the intersection.

The driver of the sedan and another passenger inside suffered minor injuries, FHP said.

No one else was hurt as a result of the crash.
