Jaguars tight end Evan Engram closes in on 100 receptions for the season

Evan Engram needs two more receptions to become just the 8th tight end in the Super Bowl Era to reach 100 receptions in one season.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jaguars tight end Evan Engram needs just two more catches to become just the 8th tight end in the Super Bowl Era to have 100 receptions in a season.

The 7th-year veteran is having one of his best seasons as he already has 824 receiving yards, 98 receptions, and hauling in 79% of the passes thrown to him, which are both career highs.

The Jaguars' offense has dealt with several injuries to skilled players, as Christian Kirk, Jamal Agnew, and Zay Jones have all missed at least four games this season.

But during those absences, Engram has been one of the more consistent parts of the receiving core.

"I take every day like it's an opportunity to attack my game, to perfect it," said Engram. "Obviously, perfection is impossible, but my mentality is the closer I get, the better I'll be."

"The way he works and the chemistry with the quarterbacks, and I think one of the more impressive things is his catch percentage when he's targeted," said Jaguars' offensive coordinator Press Taylor. "I think he's got 98 catches in 130 targets, which is a pretty impressive number of when we're throwing the ball to him, and he's catching it, and he's open. He's got good chemistry with the quarterback so far."

Engram's bid to join elite company begins against the Carolina Panthers in Week 17.
