Hundreds attend 25th Annual Guns N' Hoses event at UNF Arena

The event has already raised over $1.6 million since the first fight night in 1999.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Hundreds poured into UNF Arena as police officers and firefighters traded in their badges for boxing gloves for the 25th Annual Guns N' Hoses event.

This year's showdown was won by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, 7-6.

But the best part about this event is that it is mainly to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the FOP Foundation, which gives to several local charities. Since the first event in 1999, $1.6 million has been raised.

"A lot gets done by the money that comes out of the pockets of private individuals. Everything can't be done by the government," said Adrian Cody, retired law enforcement. "The firemen are like our cousins. We work together on the street. We're always responding to things together. So, it's interesting when we get together like this to challenge one another in this arena."

Jacksonville’s Guns N’ Hoses event is put on by the Fraternal Order of Police Foundation and is our largest fundraiser of the year.
