JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Girls Flag Football in officially kicked off in February, featuring prominent teams such as Fleming Island, a contender in last year's state game. Head Flag Football Coach Clint Lyons, part of the program since 2014, emphasizes efficiency, stating, "We stick to what wins flag football games," recognizing the players' involvement in multiple sports.

Lyons reflects on the team's past achievements, noting, "We've been to one state title game, two final fours, we won four districts and two regional championships." Despite falling short in the state game last season, the Golden Eagles are on a mission this year, concentrating on refining their strengths, especially their formidable defense.

"Everything looked like a machine. They didn't bobble a snap, they didn't bobble a short pass. Everything was on point," recalls Lyons of their previous state game. With an impressive defensive record of only allowing 6 points per game, the team believes their defense will be the key to success at the state level.

Senior wide receiver and running back London Jenikins commends Coach Lyons, stating, "He's a very smart coach. He knows the game very well, so like plays that other coaches won't normally do or won't see. He sees other gaps that other coaches won't."

Gabi Musa, senior linebacker and running back, expresses confidence in the team's defense, saying, "Our defense so far this year has been on lock. It's been good. We just work together."
