Both Ponte Vedra Basketball programs heading to Lakeland for Final Four

The Boys and Girls basketball teams practiced at UNF before they hit the road on Thursday.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Life is thriving for Ponte Vedra Sharks sports enthusiasts as their girls' soccer team clinched the state championship over the weekend, and both of the school's basketball teams have advanced to the Final Four this week.

The boys' basketball team took to the hardwood at UNF Arena on the southside of Jacksonville. The Sharks are slated to face Pembroke Pines Charter on Thursday at 7 p.m., marking their third consecutive season making it to Lakeland under the guidance of Head Coach Ben Wilson.

Coach Wilson expressed that this season has presented a unique challenge, as it is the first time they have had to endure an almost two-week break since their last victory before heading into the semi-finals.

"It's been kind of tricky and different because I've been calling around talking to my colleagues – what would they do with a two-week break? But none of them have been in this situation," remarked Wilson.

Despite the atypical circumstance, Coach Wilson highlighted that they've utilized the extra time for rest and additional preparation. "This week, it's finally game week, and the guys are like 'finally, we get to play again'," he added.

The eagerly anticipated clash is set for Thursday at 7 p.m. in Lakeland, promising an exciting showdown for Ponte Vedra and their dedicated fanbase.

The girls' team will play Bloomingdale before the boys' at 5 p.m.
