A triumph fueled by faith and hard work: Providence Cheer secure third state title in four years

Bosenberg shared, "Even if we didn't win, it was God's plan, and that was just the best thing for our team."

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — In a remarkable display of perseverance, the Providence cheer team achieved an unprecedented feat, securing three state titles in the span of four years. The team's success is not merely a result of talent but is deeply rooted in their unwavering faith.

Caroline O'Brien, a three-time state champion, emphasized the team's unique warm-up routine involving worship music, stating, "That's just something that gets your mind, your body right for your practice and at the end of the day, you know who you're doing it for."

For Callan Bosenberg, a two-time state champion, the team's perspective on outcomes reflects their strong faith. Bosenberg shared, "Even if we didn't win, it was God's plan, and that was just the best thing for our team."

The path to success for the Providence cheerleaders is paved with diligent effort. O'Brien highlighted the rigorous practice schedule during regionals and states week, with sessions held every morning and after school, demonstrating their commitment to excellence.

Lori Benson, the Head Cheer Coach at Providence, plays a pivotal role in ensuring the team remains sharp each season. Benson collaborates with experienced coaches from across Florida, including Caylen Darbrouze from Chiles in Tallahassee, to fine-tune routines and enhance their skills.

Despite their impressive achievements, the team faces skepticism and misconceptions about cheerleading as a sport. Coach Benson acknowledged doubters, saying, "Cheer is not a sport, oh, it's easy. Oh, we can do that too. That's just so easy. A state championship is easy for cheer. You guys can get that no problem," said O'Brien.

Looking ahead, the Stallions plan to embrace the "sideline" season in the fall, continuing their pursuit of excellence in the face of doubters and challenges.
