JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The NFL announced on Friday that it will give players the option to wear Guardian Caps on their helmets during the regular season.

The league hopes this can enhance player protection against head injuries.

The NFL first implemented the padded headgear during training camps ahead of the 2022 season and then during the 2023 season at every preseason practice, as well as every regular-season and postseason practice with contact.

The current plan is for the Guardian Caps to have teams' logos on them.
