26-foot-long python might be longest snake ever caught

Construction workers in Malaysia spotted a 26-foot-long python Thursday under a fallen tree, according to BBC. That's as long as some limousines.

Sunday, the snake gave birth to at least one egg and died. While the python has not been measured by official record keepers, it could be the longest ever caught. Malaysia's Civil Defense Department captured the snake and planned to take it to the Department of Wildlife before it died. See a video of the python on The Star TV.

The longest snake found in captivity recorded in the Guinness World Records measures 25-feet, 2-inches. Medusa, a reticulated python who feeds on hogs and deer, is kept at a haunted house in Kansas City, Mo.
